Values and Ethos

One statement cannot possibly sum up the ethos of the school. The following paragraphs attempt to communicate the pathway that the school is taking by highlighting the factors associated with the progress towards the final achievement of a desirable school ethos.

The school motto is “Purpose with Care”.

Hidden behind this is initially a message concerning the need for a disciplined approach to academic work, balanced by a caring atmosphere where a child knows that a teacher will listen at a time of distress.

To create a happy, secure and stimulating learning environment in which all members of the school community can grow in self-esteem and develop their potential as people.

To maintain an environment where children will feel secure and confident and in which they can succeed.
To educate to the maximum academically.
To educate to the maximum socially.
To uphold the rights of parents and actively encourage their involvement in the education of their children.
To encourage the local community to become involved in the school.

To recognise that all children have individual needs and to make every effort to cater to those requirements.
To deliver a curriculum which addresses the spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual and physical aspects of pupils.

Moral Values

We value truth, human rights, the law, justice and collective endeavour for the common good of society. In particular we value families as a source of love and support for all their members and as a basis of a society in which people care for others.

We value others for themselves, not for what they have or what they can do for us. Rather, we value those relationships as fundamental to our development and the good of the community.

The Self
We value each person as a unique person of intrinsic worth, with potential for spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical development and change.

The Environment
We value the natural world as a source of inspiration and the improvement of the school environment will always be high profile.
